Along for the ride as musicals come to life

Megan Meinero

Megan MeineroMegan Meinero, 17, a senior at Clarkstown High School North, has been an active member of her school's theater club, Cue & Curtain, throughout her high-school career. Last Time

March
21

I just performed “No Time at All” for the last time.  I can’t believe it.  I’ve fallen absolutely in love with this number.  I may perform it every day in my room just for the sake of it!

I’m actually a little disappointed because Alex Annunziata poured way too much baby powder in my hair and [...]

A Visit from North Rockland

March
21

Opening night and closing night are generally the best.  That was completely falsified last night!  The second Friday performance was easily the best show we’ve had.  The audience was so alive, clapping and cheering from “Magic to Do” to “Finale.”

The best part of yesterday’s performance was a visit from North Rockland’s cast of Pippin!  It [...]

We Did It!

March
14

Opening night was absolutely amazing!  Everything fell perfectly into place and every performance was nothing short of incredible.  I’m so proud of everyone!

There are really no words to describe how great it felt to sing “No Time at All.”  People laughed, cheered, and, best of all, sang along.  When I got offstage, I was literally [...]

Opening Night!

March
13

I’m pausing my pre-show prep to write a short post about opening!

I woke up this morning and felt a little under the weather.  But don’t worry, that’s a good thing!  I’ve been sick before every single Cue & Curtain show so I was actually a little nervous that I was feeling perfectly fine yesterday. [...]

Final Dress

March
12

Everything finally came together

Even though Seth was still feeling under the weather

Tomorrow night is opening night

By then I’m sure everything will be alright

I can’t believe this rehearsal was my last

All the good times have sadly past

I’d like to thank the entire cast, pit and crew

I love each and every one of you!

When You’re Extraordinary, You Gotta Do Extraordinary Things

March
11

Today’s rehearsal was just a full run through.  Beforehand, Reid gave us a little pep talk and I think it really helped.  The cast was so energized despite the fact that Seth (Pippin) is very sick and was unable to attend rehearsal today.  Our dance captain, Kimberlyn Frost, stood in for him, while Reid sang [...]

The Cue to Cue- It’s Not About You

March
10

Yesterday was our cue to cue.  For those who don’t know, a cue to cue is the ultimate tech rehearsal, where all of the lighting and scenic cues are set.  Reid opened rehearsal but quoting the title of a chapter in an acting book he’d read: “The Cue to Cue- It’s Not About You.”  He [...]

Pippin’s Opening… In Just No Time At All

March
8

Yesterday was our infamous Saturday rehearsal.  Traditionally, we arrive at 10:00 AM and do a zitsprobe with the orchestra til noon.  Then we take an hour long lunch break, followed by a full run through.  This year was a little different.  Fortunately, we were able to do the zitsprobe on Thursday, so 10 to 12 [...]

On The Right Track

March
3

Today was another day devoted to dancing.  We focused on four numbers: War is a Science, Magic to Do, No Time at All, and Right Track.

War is a Science:  Ian Pena, a member of the cast and IB Theatre Arts student, taught the soldiers of “War is a Science” some awesome Commedia moves today!  Commedia [...]

Week in Review

March
2

First, I would like to apologize for the lack of blog updates.  Things were pretty crazy this past week.  As of right now, we only have two weeks until we open.  It’s both exciting and terrifying.  This is the time when everything comes together.  For this show, that means the dance numbers and the international [...]
